Hey, I recently watched The Lord of the Rings movies and now I am reading the books. I think they are great. They are rated PG13 but just because of the violence. There is no bad language or inapropiate scenes. If you have the chance. I say watch them!
They are a great series! Another series I would recommend is the Bourne Trilogy. In that way, it is very good. Only a little more profanity in it than LOTR.
